Montenegro

On the 22nd May, the people of Montenegro voted for independence from its union with Serbia. The country has a population of only 700,000, and 86% of the country turned up to vote with 55% voting for independence.

I am not an expert on Welsh independence (although I am trying to get up to scratch) but it increasingly seems, well, unusual that we are not an independent country. It may be the books I'm reading, and it may be because tiny former Yugoslavian regions with populations four times smaller than Wales are confidently (despite the division of support in the country) stepping out on their own despite the economic risks involved.
